3. AI and Data Processing

3.1 How AI Features Work

Relatedly uses artificial intelligence to help you search and interact with your contacts using natural language. When you use our AI chat feature:

  • Your query is sent to our AI providers for processing
  • The AI may access your contact data to answer your questions
  • AI responses are generated in real-time and are not stored by AI providers

3.2 Business Card Scanning

When you scan a business card, the image is sent to an AI vision service for text extraction. The image is processed in real-time and is not permanently stored by us or our AI providers.

3.3 Your Data is Not Used for AI Training

Your contact data is never used to train AI models. We use AI services in a way that ensures your data remains private and is only used to provide you with our service.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Relatedly. These providers are carefully selected and contractually bound to protect your data in accordance with applicable laws.

4.1 Categories of Service Providers

  • Authentication Provider: Manages secure sign-in and account security. Receives your email address and authentication credentials.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Hosts our application and database. Stores your contact data with encryption at rest and in transit.
  • AI Service Providers: Powers natural language search and business card scanning. Processes queries and relevant contact data in real-time (not stored).
  • Payment Processor: Handles subscription payments securely. Receives payment information only when you subscribe to a paid plan.

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Where Your Data is Stored

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers with enterprise-grade security. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

  • Row-level security ensuring data isolation between users

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

You can delete individual contacts at any time, and they will be permanently removed from our systems immediately.
